Roatan Dolphin Encounter

The Roatan Dolphin Encounter was voted in the #1 excursion for families in Roatan. Your dolphin excursion starts by taking a boat over to the dolphin lagoon on a private island. There you will get in waist deep water with 12 bottle nose dolphins and a trainer. You will be in a group of 6 people and the trainer will describe the dolphin´s behavioural patterns, social structure, physiology and will give you the opportunity to touch, kiss and play with them. The centre has won awards for its excellent treatment of the dolphins and they are one of two centers in the world who regularly let their dolphins out in the open ocean (where they are free to not come back if they choose). They will also display their amazing strength by doing jumps and tail walks. During the session you can take your own photos. There will also be a professional photographer to take  your photo.  Fun for all ages and no water skills required! The dolphin encounter tour includes return transportation from your resort.

Good for price

the dolphins seemed well-cared for. Overall, a fantastic tour. Our trainer was knowledgeable and engaging. The only downside was the session felt a bit short. We got to touch and play with the dolphins, and the photos turned out great.

Wedding group trip

My kids couldn’t stop talking about it. It was great to know that the dolphins are free to swim in the open ocean. The dolphins were so friendly and playful. The trainer gave us lots of interesting facts about their lives and behavior. A perfect family activity!. This is something I’d happily recommend to friends.

I was disappointed with the dolphin encounter

The trainer seemed rushed, and we didn’t get much time to interact with the dolphins. The lagoon was nice, but the session felt too commercialized. The professional photos were overpriced. I expected a more personal and relaxed experience.
