Roatan Island and Mangrove Tour

Your tour starts as you are picked up by your smiling guides Marco or Zenolla at your resort/ cruise ship terminal. You will first be given historical facts about the island, pirates and juicy local gossip. You will proceed to pass thorough about Coxen Hole, the largest settlement on the island. Your first stop is the Iguana Farm, a sanctuary for 3000 free Iguanas.

As you pass French Harbour you will move through the dense jungles and through sparsely populated local fishing villages. When you arrive at Oak Ridge you will explore the large fishing village where all the houses are built on stilts in the water. Oak Ridge was an important source of oak masts for pirate and merchant ships in the 1700s. At one time the island had over 10,000 pirates!! After a briefing on the area you will go by water taxi through the Mangrove Tunnels and see beautiful colourfully painted houses (described as the Venice of the Caribbean).

As you pass through the famous naturally occurring mangrove tunnels of Jonesville you can see local birds and animals.  From there you will proceed back towards the West End of the island where you can stop for souvenirs. If you are on a cruise ship we will also take you to beautiful West Bay Beach, a perfect white sand beach with some of the best snorkelling in the world!!

The tour typically takes 5 hours and is private with just your family and friends. Lunch and admissions are extra, group discounts available for more then 4 guests.

love seeing the real roatan

A fantastic way to see the best of Roatan!. The iguana farm was a hit with the kids, and they loved holding the sloths at the sloth park. The tour of Oak Ridge with its stilt houses was like a step back in time. Zenolla was an incredible guide, making the tour engaging with her local gossip and historical facts.

West bay beach is the best

We had such a great time. The fishing village of Oak Ridge with its houses on stilts was a unique sight. Zenolla's tour was a blend of fun, education, and relaxation. Starting from Coxen Hole to the iguana sanctuary, every stop was well worth it. The snorkeling at West Bay Beach was the best I've ever experienced.
